FOUND!!!!!!

Kelsie just called me...they have JEWEL!!!!! Kelsie babysat last night and our neighbor, who had told me about putting the can of sardines out, etc, told Kelsie that when she researched finding her lost cat, they recommended going out in the morning and softly calling her name. So, Kelsie went into the woods behind our house this morning and started softly calling her name and she started meowing back. Kenny said it was like a game of Marco Polo. So, they found her on a big log at the bottom of the ravine and they rescued her (whether or not she wanted to be rescued doesn't matter!). Thank the Lord she's home! I can sleep better tonight! Thanks for your prayers!!!!

Jewel got out Wednesday night and hasn't come back home yet. This is totally unlike her. Would you please pray with me that she will come back home? Thanks.

When Using Your Cell Phone as an Alarm Clock...

Make sure it's charged up before you go to bed. EEK. I made it to STL safely yesterday and had a fun dinner with the "kindergarten moms" (I will forever refer to them as that -- most of us were moms together when our kids were in kindergarten (Cam for me) and we've stayed together ever since -- we have let a couple of non-kindergartners in, since then, but they have to pass a stringent test first -- LOL). Anyway...the kids here didn't have school today, so everyone was sleeping soundly this morning at my friend Sherri's house where I stayed. I told her don't get up, I have to get up early and get going so I can stop for bagels and get to work (45 mins away) by 8:00. I woke up and of course, my cell phone died during the night, so it was 7:20 and, par for my course, I was late. So, charge your cell phone if you're going to use the alarm on it -- tonight...my phone will stay on the charger!

I stopped in the old neighborhood yesterday afternoon after I got into town to check out "our" house and see one of my neighbors. She still had one of our keys so we busted in the house! They had painted the whole main and top floors! I couldn't' believe it b/c we painted the only yucky parts that needed painting...unless I really don't know what yucky is! Anyway, they ripped down the last remaining wall paper (which needed to be done, but it wasn't offensive, so I never got around to doing it) in the small bathroom on the main floor. When I went to the basement I noticed that the valences from the living/dining room and Kelsie's old room were laying down there. Ok, so I confess...I meant to bring Kelsie's w/me since it matched her bedspread, so...well...Janet said it would be ok...let's just say we made a break for it after that.

Staying w/my brother and family tonight -- I am going to be like a nomad person for 10 days, it should be interesting. Oh, I have an airport story to tell next time....I'll tell you how they were trying to save me money, once again. Oh, work was great today...seeing my friends there -- ok, so I disrupted the work flow there a little today, hopefully tomorrow it will be better. And tonight I went to church for AWANA, that was great seeing all of the kids and leaders.

That's it from STL tonight -- remember, charge those cell phones!

Off to STL, but 1st, Where's the Gas?

I leave tomorrow for St. Louis. Part of the agreement with my work is that I will return to the office periodically, so back I go. I will be there until October 2nd; that seems like SO LONG! I will miss Kenny, Kelsie & Cam desperately. My folks arrived this evening; pray for them as they help out around here. I am looking foward to seeing everyone back in STL...if I can get everything packed and on the plane in time!

Something CRAZY happened tonight. When my parents got here, they said that a bunch of the gas stations they passed by were closed! What? Of course I needed gas this morning, but true to my normal self (yes, dear, I can admit it), I waited. Haven't you ever heard that it's good to get down to the fumes? I think it cleans everything out. Anyway, after we ate dinner, we drove to check out the situation. It was true, most of the stations were closed -- we found one and we waited in a LONG line. When we got to the pump, the regular unleaded was gone, we had to get the next grade up (hate that). Anyway, I haven't had a chance to check the news to see what's going on, but word to the wise: if you are getting close to empty and have to make a trip to the airport the next day -- go ahead and break down and stop...just do it!

Fall Ball

Cam has left behind the Mustangs for the Gators (we miss you Mustangs!). Cam is playing for the 1st Redeemer Gators and they won their 1st game yesterday 11-4. Cam played 2nd base and center field. He had one fielding chance at 2nd base and made a nice play.

Do You Remember Chris Sligh?

I love this song -- and I liked him on Idol too:

A Coincidence? I Think Not!

It's been a sick-ly week here. I came down with one of those summer colds. I hope that I am on the mend. I will say that when I get a little under the weather, it reminds me to be thankful for the healthy days!

God has blessed me with some deaf friends and some hearing friends who interpret/sign, and I have had the privilege of learning a lot of sign language over the past several years. I had hoped to enter an interpreting program at a local college here, but it just didn't work with our schedules this year. We are going to a Church that hires an interpreter and has one deaf lady (maybe more but she is the only one I have met). I hope to be able to get involved with the deaf here one way or another. Anyway, here comes the cool thing: I am working in AWANA at the Church Cam is going to AWANA at. I just started this past Wednesday. I was in the room, waiting for the kids to start arriving and the lady that I will be working with came in the room and introduced herself. What a nice lady! Guess what she does for a living? She is a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing in the school district here. Is that cool or what? A coincidence that we will be working together? I think not. I think the Lord worked that out and I look forward to seeing what else He has in store.

Heather!

Note: Please read down to the end for a special message from me.

Kelsie's friend, and all around family friend, came for a visit over Labor Day weekend. I think it is safe to say that they had a really good time together. It was our privilege to have Heather here with us and we hated to see her go back home.

We didn't make it to Sal's for dinner :( they were closed on Monday. We settled for lunch out on Saturday at the pizza/pasta place at the Avenue. Just thought I would throw this cute picture of my husband in...just because I can!

The girls held up better than I did at the airport :) I absolutely hate this escalator at the ATL airport -- it takes you down to the train so you can get to your concourse. I hold on tight and close my eyes so I don't get sick.

Until next time! And yes, Heather traveled by herself -- she did a great job! We were thankful that they let us go down to the gate with her in ATL.
Special message from me: I haven't been too political on my blog, but I must encourage you to link to my sister-in-law's blog at the right (THISfunctional family) - I found her most recent youtube posting of Megyn Kelly's interview with the USWeekly magazine editor unbelievable.
